About Dr. Hansen

Dr. Reges Hansen is a psychiatrist whose approach to care is rooted in the belief that effective mental health treatment should address the whole person rather than symptoms in isolation. Her practice integrates psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, behavioral interventions, and lifestyle-focused strategies into a cohesive and individualized model of care. Integrated psychiatry is an approach that combines biological, psychological, and behavioral perspectives, recognizing that meaningful and lasting improvement often comes from addressing multiple dimensions of mental health simultaneously rather than relying on medication or therapy alone.

Dr. Hansen completed her undergraduate studies at Old Dominion University, graduating with honors and earning a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She went on to receive her medical degree from Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences, an experience that established her lasting connection to the Pacific Northwest and continues to influence her perspective on patient care. During medical school, she trained under Dr. Dillon in Richland, Washington, where she developed an early interest in integrated psychiatry and the thoughtful combination of medication management with psychotherapeutic treatment.

She completed her psychiatry residency at BayCare Health System, serving as Chief Resident during her training. BayCare’s program emphasized psychotherapy as an essential component of psychiatric practice rather than an optional addition to medication management, a philosophy that remains central to her work today. During residency, Dr. Hansen pursued additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and psychoanalytic approaches.

Her interest in deeper psychotherapeutic work continued beyond residency. Dr. Hansen completed additional psychoanalytic training through the Florida Psychoanalytic Center and is also a certified CBT-I provider through the Perelman School of Medicine, specializing in evidence-based treatment for insomnia and sleep disorders.

Dr. Hansen has a special interest in working with a wide variety of patients across different stages of life and backgrounds, including professionals, college students, retirees, individuals living with chronic medical conditions or disabilities, and LGBTQI patients. Her practice is grounded in the belief that psychiatric care should be thoughtful, collaborative, evidence-based, and deeply human. While treatment is approached seriously, the process itself does not need to feel cold, impersonal, or overly clinical. Sometimes the most meaningful progress begins with feeling genuinely understood.
